How the competition works

Singa is very strong on teamwork, and the Gold-winning groups will have to show high levels of collaboration, stamina and mutual support - as well as superlative math skills. Questions in the competition will be based on Singapore schools' math questions which have a high content of Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS). It is open to all students from Grades 1 to 11 in five divisions in team rounds:
Division Junior – Grade 1 and 2
Division Middle – Grade 3 and 4
Division Intermediate – Grade 5 and 6
Division Advance – Grade 7 to 8
Division Expert – Grade 9 to 11

Singateers Round (45 minutes)
Each participant will be working independently on 20 multiple choice questions with 4 options and 5 open-ended questions. So, there will be a total of 25 questions. His/Her individual score will contribute to the Team score. Each grade is ranked by itself, except grade 10/11*
* same paper but ranked separately depending on the number of contestants

Team ABC Round (30 minutes)
In this ABC Round, the participants have to allocate problem-solving duties strategically amongst their team, matching member’s different strengths to the varied mathematics questions they face. There will be a total of 13 questions. These questions are categorised into three categories:

Dash Round (30 minutes)
The Dash Round is a unique set-up which allows members of a team to collaborate in investigating, checking and improving the solutions to a series of maths problems. All 3 members of a team solve 10 open-ended questions together. Team members are to strategise on how they plan to have all 10 questions solved within 30 minutes.
